Santa Claus stopped by Country Lakes during his very busy time of the year to have his picture taken with some wonderful boys and girls. Everyone was also treated to hot chocolate, homemade cookies, and chips and dip at the Bowen Model Home on Saturday 12/13/08. We wish to thank Amy Cruzon for donating the Homemade Gourmet treats and Bowen for the use of their model home. Carissa Acker with Real Estate by Design donated the hot chocolate, cookies, napkins, cups and the $50.00 gift card that was given away. The candy canes were donated by David Boyd from Candance Gordon at Sounthern Fried Freelancing, and Tina Birdwell donated the card frames for the pictures of Santa.

Halloween was a fun event for the Country Lakes community with all of the small and big children dressing up! Several residents decorated their homes and yards for the occasion and some residents even made it a block party welcoming all the "ghosties and goblins!"

On October 18th, Country Lakes held its Fall Festival. What was so unique about this year’s fall festival was the participation and partnership of the three builders, Bowen, Sandlin, and Graham Hart. The fall festival was also held in conjunction with Public Safety Day. This year Country Lakes’ residents celebrated the return of fall with many activities and food. The children enjoyed the face painter, the balloon guy, the magician, the train ride, bounce houses, craft tables, and the fun costume parade. The residents were also treated to the Public Safety Events. Argyle PD brought the police car and showed weapons and equipment used by officers. The Denton PD had the motorcycle unit and the bicycle patrol demonstrate precision maneuvers and the balancing of the officers on the bikes were simply amazing. The Argyle and Denton Fire Department had the large fire trucks along with an ambulance and even Careflite landed. The CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) was represented to encourage residents to be trained in basic emergency response skills. Everyone also enjoyed the free grilled hotdogs and sausages along with chips, cookies, and a drink. Most importantly, new friends were made along with the bonding of residents and the welcoming of possible new neighbors.

If you were able to attend the Fall Festival, we are anxious to hear from you. We are planning for next year and would like your input.

Country Lakes Community is very unique. Part of the community is in the Town of Argyle, TX and the larger part is in the City of Denton, TX. Country Lakes HOA sponsored the first National Night Out in Texas on October 7, 2008 for the community. They partnered with the Argyle PD and were supported by the City of Denton PD. The Argyle PD sponsored a poster contest that had the students show how a community can be safe by being good neighbors and also helping the police when you see something wrong. The evening of October 7, 2008, the community had a parade with decorated bikes, strollers, and walkers showing how the community is united and supports crime prevention. The residents of Country Lakes were provided crime prevention material and the children received balls, coloring books, lighted necklaces, pencils and a lot more goodies along with free hotdogs, chips, drinks, and cookies. Over 300 people participated in the first annual Country Lakes National Night Out in Texas and the residents united with the police departments of both cities to build a partnership.
