Tuesday, October 6th, Country Lakes participated in National Night Out in Texas once again. More than 200 people attended even in the rain! The Argyle Police Department cooked the hot dogs and sausages while other volunteers helped serve. They also answered questions and handed out information about safety to the parents and trinkets and balloons to the kids. Members of the HOA Committee, Community Watch, Census Committee, and the Denton Police Department were on hand to answer any questions with free information too. The Argyle Fire District was also there to support National Night Out. Ross Johnson and associates from The Real Estate Station sponsored the hayride and other great giveaways while answering any questions about home sales. The balloon guy made an encore visit to entertain everyone with his skills at balloon sculpturing. We also had two winners for the pumpkin decorating contest all sponsored by Hunter Allen from Hillwood Energy. If you want to be part of any programs or committees, that will benefit our community, especially Block Captains, please let us know.

On Saturday, March 21, 2009, Country Lakes Social Committee sponsored a Spring Clean Up concentrating on the large green belt and vacant lots. Residents of all ages participated in the clean up efforts. Mud didn’t stop some residents from getting the trash that was stuck in its grips. Some members of the clean up crew commented on their surprise of what they found. Beside the plastic bags, paper items, and cans, they found wooden platforms, poles, discarded rebar, and other construction debris that was littering non construction sites. Thanks to the residents of Country Lakes who participated in the annual clean-up to make it successful! The Social Committee also sponsored a toiletries collection or monetary donations that will be donated to Denton County Friends of the Family organization that helps battered and abused women and children.
